Back to Basics – Quick Tips To Keep Your AC in Order for the New Year

It’s 2020. Not just a new year but also a new decade. There is a lot to be excited about and a lot of new years resolutions to keep too.

It’s also a good time to check in on your AC unit to make sure it is working up to par going into the warm spring and summer seasons that are sure to heat up your home in the Sunshine State.

So here are a few quick reminders and tips to keep your AC working top notch for you and your family:

Replace That Old Filter

A common sense type of thing but you would be surprised how many people neglect this simple task. An air conditioner unit that is in constant use should have its filter replaced close to once a month.  Once you replaced it, make sure to test it so that you know the system is working properly. You can achieve this by turning the unit on and switching to cool mode and then lowering the temperature to the point where the air starts to become cool. Should the unit not turn on check your home’s circuit breaker as you may have blown a fuse?

Upgrade To A Programmable Thermostat

By having a programmable thermostat will allow you to automatically switch the AC from on to off throughout the day when a specific temperature is set. This way it cools properly when you are home but doesn’t when your not. This will save energy, which will save on wear and tear of your unit and ultimately save you money on your electric bill.

Examine The Ducts

Air vents have a lot to do with effectively cooling your home. For one, they must not be obstructed and if they are, they need to be repositioned.  If still not correct you may want to look into getting your duct system cleaned by a professional.
